Re-opening our Churches in The Parish of Birchington
From Sunday 5th July 2020, our churches within the Parish of Birchington may open for public worship. Following a Standing Committee meeting held virtually on Thursday 2nd July it is recommended that the following proposal is implemented, and this brief paper explains the way forward.
Week beginning 6th July: –
Wednesday 8th July – 10.00 am to Noon – Private Prayer at All Saints
Thursday 9th July – 10.00 am to Noon – Private Prayer at St Thomas
Sunday 12th July – 10.00 am – Said Eucharist at All Saints
Week Beginning 13th July: –
Wednesday 15th July – 10.00 am to Noon – Private Prayer at All Saints
Thursday 16th July – 10.00 am to Noon – Private Prayer at St Thomas
Sunday 19th July – 10.00 am – Said Eucharist at St Thomas
Week Beginning 20th July: –
Wednesday 22nd July – 10.00 am to Noon – Private Prayer at All Saints
Thursday 23rd July – 10.00 am to Noon – Private Prayer at St Thomas
Sunday 26th July – 10.00 am – Said Eucharist at All Saints
St Mildred’s Church, Acol, will not be open for public worship currently because of its limited ingress and egress.
The decision has been made with the following principles in mind:
• Opening our places of worship so that people may experience the living God in church.
• Minimising risk and keeping people safe.
A risk assessment has been undertaken and will be kept under review. There will be a strict one-way system to enter and leave the churches. Opening our churches will be done with careful planning to secure the safety of our congregations and as part of this we will encourage the wearing of masks and thorough hygiene and suggest people bring their own sanitiser, although there will be some in church.
On Sundays only, during July there will be a ‘booking’ service for seats as we can only permit a certain number in the church for services. Loraine will be the contact point for booking on 07835 330562 or email email@example.com
All endeavours will be made to ‘stream’ Sunday services where technically possible.
This pattern will be reviewed as part of the gradual re-opening of our churches.
A further update will be provided soon on opening up our church halls.
We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding during these difficult and challenging times. Please do hold these plans in prayer.
